Well, I greatly apologize to everyone (mostly myself considering the number of hits this thing gets) but between work, life (or the lack of) and a few physical aches and pains, I have completely lost track of this baby.
I was watching a video earlier and in doing so, it made me think .... didn't I used to write something about these things? Didn't I used to drink a few cold ones and share a little bit of my silliness on the youtube? Then I remembered you and thought, lets do another one.
Hopefully this will prompt me to get back into the swing of things.....As for that video....

First, you did not read that title wrong, it is spelled correctly. Watch the video and that part will be self-explanatory.
Second, at my age in the 80's it was fairly customary for most young men to have leather jackets or "leathers" for short. I had an awesome "heavy metal" style leather jacket that I purchased at great expense in those days from JCPenny.
I know, JCPenny is not the coolest rock-n-roll clothier in the world, but it is what I could afford in those days. However, a plain leather jacket was not the plan, so after breaking in the jacket, I took it to a local airbrush artist that "customized" the back for me. That cost around 20 dollars and about half my poster collection at the time (a BIG sacrifice in those days). Anyway, the design was based on this song. It was a human skull, kinda smiling, wearing a red bandanna that read "Mista Bone".
You can see the design on a few of Great Whites other videos that include the tour bus where the design was painted onto the back of the bus.
Cheezy by today's standards???? Hell Yes. But by a teenagers standards in the mid 80's into that most awesome "hair metal", I was awesome. I still wish I knew which wife or girlfriend from those days took the jacket so I could get it back!!!!! At this point, I would frame it and hang it like a museum piece.

So, Carly Simon shows up on this blog ... nah, its a cover and a pretty bad one at that. I have generally enjoyed Faster Pussycat (yes, named after that awful movie from the late 60's) but this is bad. Enough Said.

Bang (Bango?) Tango came on late in the 80's and basically missed the gravy train. They may have even been "big" had they come along at the right time. The shameful thing is that this isn't terrible other than the singers voice (which disturbs me for some reason?). I've heard other songs from these guys that I really liked, so I guess this song just doesn't work for me. I will admit that I never owned any of their stuff.
Special note - I think we are definitely stuck in the 80's at this point. Sorry or Congrats! Your choice.

Good Lord, so happy this one showed up in the list. I will never forget walking into "Turtles Records" as it was called in those days and the manager smiling and saying I got something new for you!!!!!!!!! He hit that opening guitar lick and I said sold. These young boys if I remember right where all in high school when this was recorded. Memphis blues rock, yeah, that works for me. This band arrived a "little" late to the whole 80's sound (thanks Nirvana) but they had this and one more successful album.

Not sure that I have ever featured this band, but they are my favorite band that hit it a little too late in the 80s. A bunch of boys from Texas that ventured out to Cali to try and hit it big. The first album featuring this song was awesome. Sadly, the second one aptly titled "6s, 7s and 9s" was just that and failed them.

Since I enjoyed the previous video so much, I will break a rule and go with two from the same band tonight since I haven't heard from these guys in years. Try a more southern version of Junkyard and see what I mean about them being from Texas. They were truly talented. It makes me wonder if they had stayed at home could they have done better?
Wow, its been a long time, I will try to remember this outlet a little more frequently. Having gone through this exercise tonight, I remember it being rather therapeutic. All the more reason to do it more often!!!!!!!
