So, I spent the past four days in Washington DC (or actually Grand Harbor, MD) at a work conference. We sent our whole team, as a team building and learning event for the year. Really good conference but too little time to actually get out and see the sites. I did manage a four hour excursion to the Mall in DC to see some of the memorials and a couple of Smithsonian buildings. Yes, four hours for all of that = we saw very little of anything and walked about a years worth of exercise. Glad to be home, wiped out, here is the result of a tired adventure.....

Funny how Youtube can pick the right song at the right time. This is how I feel today. Honky is a cool band, I am about 50/50 on their music. This song is not really the best representation of this band as it is far more bluesy and laid back than most of the other tunes. JD (the singer and songwriter) has been in music a long time and is more recognizable from his "Butthole Surfer" days. That dog at the end of the video watching the fiddle player is hilarious.

Half of this adventure is about me finding some new tunes and bands to dig into, and this is one of those new ones. I've heard of Hogjaw, but I have never really dug into their catalog (which I now regret). I love that heavy bass and matching guitar song. "There has to be more this ole live than that 9 to 5".....Nice! Nothing stylish here accept the sound and I can respect that........................ Is it me or does this guy sound a little bit like Hank Jr?

I am (or Youtube) on a roll tonight with new and totally different stuff. This is amazing, homeboy is doing this completely on his on and doing it live! I'm assuming some of those lyrics are "cajun" as I am not sure what he is saying.

Good Lord! Let the research begin here, we are going to double dip tonight. That singer is some kind of soulful and that bassist needs a southern man in here life. I got to find me some Lake Street Drive discs.
That was a strange trip tonight. Start with something bluesy from a "semi punk" band and end up with something so soulful that I am begging a bassist for a girlfriend! Hey, every trip is eventful and this one is no different. Maybe I am just uber-tired or maybe the music is just that awesome! Either way, I will see you soon and hope you enjoyed the trip for the evening.
